Material : Chapter 9 (The Battle of Surabaya : Recount Text)
Recount Text
Recount Text is a text thet telling
the reader about one story, action or activity. It is goal is to entertaining
or informing the reader. Recount Text is a text which retell event or
experiences in the past.
The Structure of Recount Text
-Orientation : it gives the
readers the background information needed to understand the text, such as who
was involved, where it happened and when it happened.
-Events : a series of events,
it ordered in a chronological sequence
-Reorientation : A personal
comment about the event or what happened in the end.
The Language Feature of Recount
Text
-Using the simple past continuous
tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.
-Using temporal sequence, e.g. on
Saturday, on Monday, on Sunday.
-Focus on specific participant, e.g.
I (the writer).
-Using the conjunctions, such as :
then, before, after, etc.
-Using action verb, e.g, went,
stayed.

Events
1. The Governor of lava and brigadier
Mallaby made an agreement.
2. Indonesians refused to surrender
their weaponry to British Army.
3. There was misunderstanding between
British troops in Jakarta and those in Surabaya, under the command of Brigadier
A.W.S. Mallaby.
4. Leaflets were dropped all over
Surabaya by a British plane from Jakarta.
5. The Indonesians felt betrayed.
6. Brigadier Mallaby was killed.
7. British Army began to advance into
Surabaya with cover with both naval and air bombardment.
8. The battle lasted three weeks.
9. Many Indonesians died in the
battle.
Reorientation
The battle of Surabaya awakened
Indonesians and international people to support the Indonesian national
revolution.

Synopsis
The dog was
angry, chasing away the stork he saw, even though it turned out the stork
needed a worm bait to eat the children. The employer is annoyed with the dog,
because he thinks the dog is noisy to make the fish escape, even though the dog
only runs away from his employer's property. When the employer sees the invited
heron, he expels the crane, and the dog looks happy and proud, happy to have
helped, but when the dog wants to know, he looks sorry.
